Click below for the latest on this. Just came out a short while ago. Even so, I wish it said Goodell looking to keep Vick completely out of the NFL! So it is not that great. But it is something to keep us apprised.

http://stephaniehyde.blogspot.com/2009/06/nfl-commissioner-leaning-towards.html

I don't think he should be reinstated whether he shows remorse or not. That remorse would not be genuine. You don't do something to the extent that he did and all of a sudden as they say (it's just an expression) "get religion" and become filled with remorse. He will show remorse so he can back into the game and earn money to continue in the lifestyle he was used to. That's about the only remorse I can see coming.

Let him play football in Europe or in the states in what is called "arena football." This dog abuser has no right to be reinstated to the NFL so he can go on and live his lavish lifestyle and get cheers and praise from fans at games. THAT would be a reward! He shouldn't be rewarded. Let him move out of the US and go to Europe. They have a big football league there.

To voice your concerns about Vick going back into the NFL, please write to the Commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell. He is the one in charge of deciding whether Vick returns to the NFL. I

If you call, ask to be put through to the "fan comment line". Here you can leave your point of view on their voicemail. Please remember to press the # sign when you are finished leaving your message and follow the prompt to send your message.

I have written Goodell and also called the fan comment line. Write a letter. Those letters stack up and are personal. Goodell will get the message that reinstating Vick would be rewarding him and that is a no go!

The dude did his time. He should be able to get his old job back, if he is still good at it. As long as he is kept away from pit bulls or any dogs, he should be able to do whatever. I didn't know the NFL did not accept ex convicts, if they choose not to let Vick in, then it should be applied across the board.

If you do your time, remorse is irrelevant. Simply put, if you've paid a price for your actions, that negates having to be remorseful. Alot of people become remorseful upon being incarcerated and it is genuine. I can't say one way or the other if Micheal Vick is sorry for what he did. I am sure he is sorry that his life is screwed up, but humans are very selfish creatures. I am also sure he will have nothing to do with pitbulls ever again. There is no way we can ever know if he is remorseful or if he isn't remorseful, so its not for us to judge that. Even if he does things to try and prove it, that doesn't make it heartfelt. That being said, I have seen many members, on forums just like this, talk very matter of factly about dogfighting. So, does him being Micheal Vick make it that much worse than Joe Blow down the road doing it? Would we say Joe Blow shouldn't get his job back at the steel foundry because of this? Well, Micheal Vick is supposed to set an example. Guess what? Every adult should be setting a good example, but we don't condemn everybody else in this same way. Its no secret that I've done time. For anybody to tell me I don't deserve this or that, or that I'm not remorseless because of the things I have done IN MY PAST is ludicrous. We need to let people be forgiven for their mistakes instead of forever damning them in our own eyes.

Not from here you didnt LOL and hes not the mod.

Any way. Maybe I have a different outlook on things. My main job is a soldier in the U.S. Army I am used to being held at a higher standard. If I commit any crime especially one of this magnitude, then I would never even be allowed back on a military base. I reckon the NFL doesn't have that high of a standard.

If the NFL did have such high standards, they would be ruined, a lot of their players wouldn't be allowed to play. I am ok with NFL banning Vick, as long as they apply it for everyone. So if you commit a crime, you don't live up to the NFL's standards, your out.

Pacman paralyzed a man and ruined his life.... Nothing happened. All vick did was bankroll a dog yard... Then got ratted out! I and I'm sure none of YOU saw any evidence convicting michael vick. I'm not gonna trust what PETA tells me vick did!!

Professional sports are full of thugs and criminals in general. It sad because the media; the same media that brainwashes the masses into thinking our dogs are vicious, predatory beasts, is now programming an anti Micheal Vick campaign simply as means of keeping headlines/stories. They could care less about the dogs and the country in general could care less about the dogs/what the crime is. Its just more media manipulation and I don't bite that hook for one second. Its funny that cops do all kinds of shady, criminal things and not only get defended to the fullest by their own, but the public as well. On top of that, they never ever ever ever ever get fired for doing terrible things. It just comes back to if you get punished for something, you should be able to move on with your life. His profession isn't one that should be held to a high standard in my opinion as far as what he did.

i think it should be across the board if you are convicted of a felony you should be banned from the NFL

and dont say that isnt fair because hell going by those rules i couldnt play in the NFL lol but i think it would be a good thing for the game

I think it's be fair if it applied to your job too bro!! How'd you feel about that?!

Leon

In terms of fairness yes it should apply to everyones job. But when it look at it realistically, you have to consider the fact that the amount of exposure the NFL, the teams and the players get is well beyond a ordinary job. Millions of people watch the NFL, these people are role models to kids who are into football, So they should absolutely be held at a higher standard than say Mr joe blow construction worker. And also every job has different standards, so you cant say since x applies to this job, x also must apply to that job. Thats not true.

my SO is a convicted felon and has been one since he was a teenager he now owns a very successful Roofing company but had to work is ass off to be that way alot harder then most specially when people want to run back ground checks for everything now a days but he never had said he deserves shit he knew the consequneses of his actions when he did them just so happens he has to live with thos consequenses the rest of his life and you know he did do his time more then what most people do for the same crime and even he will tell you he doesn't blame people for judging him for what he did he shouldn't of done it he knew better............ so I dont' feel vick should beable to come back to the game and he shouldn't expect to let back either........

Wow. I just read the source article for this thread and wow. Stallworth got 30 days in jail and 2 years house arrest for a DUI manslaughter. Tell me thats not worse than MV. Its a shame that the media is making a super villain out of MV and you never hear anything about Stallworth. I guess the media is doing their job well. I refuse to be a part of the system. I can't comment on this subject anymore, no good can come of it.

Leon
06-30-2009, 02:36 PM
I was going to mention Stallworth, but didn't want to add fuel to the fire lol. But yeah its ridiculous how MV is demonized like a mass murderer, while others who are much worse can get back to the NFL. I think its more of left wing animal rights activists who played the biggest part in the MV case. If you go against those people, they will make you look like you hate animals. And i bet the NFL does not want peta and friends protesting on every NFL event. MV is just a causality of it.

One last thing- When did our society stop caring about justice in the favor of politics? Case in point, if this thing wasn't covered in so much controversy, do you think the commisioner would take the same stance? I'm inclined to think no.

That is funny they are saying he didn't get any special treatment.. hmmmm! I graduated with a kid who during that summer got into an accident (DUI) with his girlfriend. She unfortunately passed away and he got 8yrs. Not saying he didn't deserve it or more, but Money talks!!!
