Recommendations for dog backpack and life vest.

I'm in the market for this gear. Also dog water booties. There is lots of sharp rocks in the springs.

I was hoping some of you have bought these things for your APBT's and would know what fits and has good quality.

Thanks.

Mine is an Eagle Creek and it's a quarter of a century old, probably. That's pretty durable.

Not sure if you guys have a Northern Tool down there, but I bought a VERY nice backpack from there last week for $5. My others I got from Petsmart or Petco (around $15-20) and I personally like the $5 one alot better. It has more compartments and seems to be a little heavier duty.

if you want really rugged durable gear i recommend ruff wear. We use a lot of their products with Peanut and haven't had any failures of the products. The only bad thing is they are a bit expensive but I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

yeah i know. the stuff just doesn't break down. we have used his stuff a lot thru our hikes and at the beach and its holding up really well.

we get our stuff locally though to save on the shipping. granted we haven't bought him a few things at once. you might want to do a store locator you can usually get their stuff a bit cheaper that way.

what sizes did you get peanut and how much does he weight?

he has the bark n boots grip trex (they have about 250 miles on them now) barely any tread wear.

Peanut is 50 lbs his feet are 2" across. He wears the size small (all four feet). We buy infant socks and use those inside to keep from long hike wear. They sell socks but they are not special compared to infant socks and the infant socks fit better and a fraction of the cost.

i don't have either of the other 2 but i have to say i have looked at the palisades pack before and if we didnt have a hand me down back pack already i would have definately bought that one. it is a 2fer. you have a harness and a back pack that carries water. also it is padded most other packs are not. being military you know the benefits of a padded pack on a hump.
that pack is very technical.

well I went ahead and picked one up. And It was 5 bucks. I'm actually surprised at the quality of it to. I figured what the hell even if it's not the greatest it's not like I will be getting ripped off. And I have to say it's actually very usable.

Thanks for the tip Rock Creek Kennels.

haha im gonna laugh. I think angus would disown me if i tried putting boots on him lmao IDEA... although If i put boots on him, if he gets tired swimming down the river i can put him on the raft with out his nails popping it. might be a good idea

No problem at all!!! Like I said, I like this one just as much IF NOT MORE than the $20 a piece ones I got from the pet store. Ive had my others atleast 5-6 years and they still look great but im certain that this one will hold up just as well. I may go pick up another one today. There's a Northern Tool 1.5 mile from my house.

i was thinking they might be good to use on hikes because they can keep sticks and bugs and dirt (or sand) out of his eyes. Think they would work for that or just embarass him?
I just want to protect his eyes we joined a hiking club and intend to do a lot more hiking in some rougher terrain.

We have a pair of those that we won in a raffle or something a few years ago. None of our dogs will keep them on. (Not even long enough to take a picture!)

Kevin you take him to Chazz he should be fine i used to take Fuggee there all the time and also Rocky they never had any trouble with the rocks. As for Rainbow and Jenny I am not to sure about Jenny but I know rainbow pets are not allowed unless you come up from the main river into the springs and even still they are not allowed in the park area. I am not sure up in the main park but the place where you put the tubes in at I know you are not allowed to have pets anymore. Well unless they changed the rules sense the last time i was there about a year ago on the air boats
