ITS HERE! i worked on it last night at work. First sticky anyone??? :)

#1 The term “PITBULL”
When people hear the word “Pitbull” they think “vicious dog”. Although using that term to cover a wide varity of dogs, is correct, it does not help our fight against BSL. Take time out to educate someone when they ask what kind of dog you have on your leash. If u own an AmBully, AmStaff, APBT, or Pitmix please take time out to explain the difference, because there is one.

#2 Color means nothing
Pitbulls come in every color under the sun. Blues, blacks, fawns, ect are not “rare” and carry no importance to the dog itself. Also, Red Nose, Blue Nose, Black nose, carry no importance or ranking for the APBT. It is simply the color of their nose. (merle coat, pink nose and blue eyes are all faults and are carry health issues)

#3 The American Pitbull vs. American Bully (physical)
American Pitbull Terriers are smaller I structure and are built like a swimmer. They have longer, leaner muscles and do not exceed 65#s. The standard weight is between 35#- 65#. American Bullies are bigger, stockier dogs that do not have a set standard but seem to fall into the weights of 70-110#s. They are bulkier and look more like a body builder. Since the APBT is a medium sized dog, they do not qualify for large breed food. Even though and AMBully can reach 100#s that ALSO does not qualify it to be large breed. Please stick to REGULAR/ MEDUIM dog food

#4 APBTs vs AmBullies (temperament/energy)
Traditional APBTs were bred for matching in “the pit.” Therefore, game lines tend to have Dog Aggressive dogs, with never ending energy. APBTS are working dogs and NEED more than the usual walk every day. It is important to give your APBT a job so it doesn’t get into trouble. American Bullies, were bred for companionship and a lower stem of energy. These dogs seem to have less DA but still may carry it to some degree. They are just fine with their normal walks everyday and some time to play ball.

#5 NO PAPERWORK, NO PUREBRED
You cannot tell a pit bulls bloodline by what the dog looks like. Bloodlines are traced by paperwork from a reputable registry such as the UKC, ABKC, or ADBA. (Stay away from CKC. The tend to register anything as a pitbull) if you dog was not born with papers it will not recieve papers and there will be no way for you to trace their bloodline. period.

#6 Dog parks are bad news for Pitbulls
Dog parks are setting your pitbull up for failure. Stay away from traditional dog parks becuase it only places your dog in a strenuous situation. Even if your dog is the best trained dog in the world, you cannot trust other owners to have spent the same amount of time and energy into training their dog. IF and incidents does occur, u and your dog will most likely to blame simply becuase you have a pitbull.

#7 DO NOT BREED!
Because so many people have decided they are “reputable breeder” we have an abundance of pitbull type dogs in shelters. Leave it to the professionals. If it is too much of a hassle, Spaying/Nuetering your pet is always a safe thing to do.

#8 THEY ARE NOT GUARD DOGS!
All forms of Pitbulls do not have HA. They tend to be all bark no bite. The see humans as their pack, not as a potentional threat. If your pitbull DOES possess HA you should seek professional help, our put your dog down to avoid any negative headlines. If you are looking for a guard dog, get another breed.

#9 Secure Containment
Keep your dog contained at all times. APBTs can be great escape artists. Make sure the equipment you are using is strong enough to hold a bulldog. Inspect collars, chains, fencing, and all other hardware on a regular basis. If your dog is intact, they will be sure to get what they want, when they want it.

10# Be the best owner there is!
Because we have so much negative influence by the media it is EXTREMELY important to train your dogs to the best of your ability. Be patient, stern, educated, and aware. Do not be closed minded with this breed. There is always something to learn and work on. It is important to never put them in a situation where they can fail. Set up our breed for success!!

Really good! I just posted it as a blog on my myspace. I did add ABKC for a registry along with UKC and ADBA. other than that Perfect!

i don't think you should put a pit down because it is human aggressive.....as long as its not child aggressive. your dog shouldn't have to like everyone else. a dog that likes every human can easily be stolen. only a hand full of people can pet my dog. my dog knows when we go on walks not to go up to strangers and definitely don't let anyone else feed them.
